Watchdog: Google fined 700,000 rbl for ignoring Russian law

MOSCOW, Jul 18 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has fined Google 700,000 rubles for random filtration of search results, the authority said on Thursday in a statement.

“The check revealed that Google is selective in screening search results: more than a third of links from the register of banned information are kept in search,” the authority said.

The watchdog’s Director Alexander Zharov said in late June that Google could be punished with a fine for ignoring the law, which obliges search engines to delete from search results links to resources containing illegal information.
